about

I edited and wrote music for my family's super 8 movies from the 60's and 70's. This is the soundtrack. The recurring musical theme is a Nocturne for solo piano written by dad, Dwight Swafford. I used prepared piano, (including violin bow hair fitted through the piano strings), toy instruments, various kitchen items, violin and a Roland Juno 106 synthesizer I've had since 1984. The movies were transferred to VHS in the 80's, then digitized in 2010. The music is meant to evoke childhood (my own and my brothers', who were much older than me). The project is a tribute to my immediate and extended family, many of whom have passed away now.
